Position: Tax Analyst (SALT)

Location: Atlanta, Georgia USA

State & Local Tax (SALT) is one of the fastest growing divisions in our company, having more than doubled in size in just over 3 years. We are looking to further expand our US-based SALT team with the addition of a Tax Analyst. This role will be far more like that of a business consultant than a traditional accountant. It will be largely client-facing, spending a large portion of your time on client-site, but you will also work closely with other CKH employees (both US-based and abroad). Your primary activities will be related to compliance and research, areas which will require an analytical mindset and attention to detail. Given the recent monumental changes occurring in sales and use tax world, this role will be both challenging and rewarding and provide incredible opportunities for professional growth.


Sales Tax Compliance:

  • Perform monthly sales and use tax compliance tasks
  • Preparing reconciliations and returns
  • Filing returns online and by mail
  • Utilize returns package software (Vertex and OneSource)
  • Gather and understand various data reports from client ERP systems
  • Address government notices related to SALT and business license activities
  • Register entities for jurisdictional tax licenses on behalf of client
  • Create online accounts to file/pay returns

Use Tax Research:

  • Analyze the taxability of monthly use tax accruals for various client entities
  • Utilize Checkpoint and other resources to aid assessment
  • Create journal entries to reverse erroneous accruals
  • Understand the business nature and purchasing decisions of client’s entities
  • Work with client’s purchasing team to prevent re-occurrence of erroneous accruals
  • Assist client in supporting research for other requested projects (i.e. audit defense)


  • Preferred: Prior work experience with sales tax compliance
  • Prior work experience in accounting and/or financial services industry
  • Bachelor’s degree in Accounting/Tax/Finance
  • Proficiency in Microsoft Office products (Excel, PowerPoint, Word)
  • Interested in the intersection of business and law
  • Client-facing personality (polite, respectful, holds conversation well)
  • Eager to tackle a steep learning curve
  • Superb organizational skills and detail-orientated
  • Effective written (email) and oral (phone) communication
  • Willingness to travel, even on short notice
