These scoring ranges are suggested internal assessment guidelines, not AICPA-defined readiness thresholds. Results should be interpreted alongside the significance of any identified deficiencies rather than relying on the score alone. This readiness assessment is not an official certification or examination, and a positive response does not, by itself, establish SOC readiness.

What Is SOC Report/Examination?

A SOC (System and Organizational Controls) report is an independent examination that evaluates controls over a company’s systems and processes. A SOC report provides independent assurance that a company has appropriate controls in place to manage risks associated with the services it provides. It provides insight to how an organization protects information and manages this risk.

SOC reports can be either SOC 1 or SOC 2. A SOC 1 examination focuses on controls at a service organization that may be relevant to its customers’ internal control over financial reporting. A SOC 2 evaluates controls related to one or more of the AICPA Trust Services Criteria: Security, Availability, Processing integrity, Confidentiality, or Privacy.

A SOC report is either Type 1, which covers design and implementation at a point in time, or Type 2, design + operating effectiveness over a period.
