About Scott Newel
Scott Newel joined Jason F. Clausen, P.C. in 2024, bringing several years of public accounting and assurance experience to the firm. As a member of the audit team, Scott supports engagements across the firm’s primary practice areas, including professional employer organization (PEO) audits, nonprofit audits, and employee benefit plan audits.
His responsibilities span the audit process, working with clients and engagement teams to review financial information, support financial reporting, and help ensure engagements are completed accurately and efficiently.
Scott’s strengths include financial reporting and analysis, financial statement preparation, account reconciliation, auditing, and generally accepted accounting principles (GAAP).
A lifelong Michigan resident, Scott Newel earned his Bachelor of Business Administration with a major in Accounting from the University of Michigan-Dearborn, graduating with high distinction. He also holds an Associate’s Degree in Business Administration and Management from Oakland Community College. Before joining Jason F. Clausen, P.C., Scott built his assurance career at a mid-size CPA firm, and has experience working in different environments.
Outside of work, Scott has played hockey for most of his life and enjoys traveling and spending time with friends and family.
